Ruisen Tu
Robotics Researcher @ Artly AI
I am a Robotics Researcher at Artly AI, where we build cool robot applications. I earned my Master's degree in Computer Science from the University of California, San Diego (UCSD), where I worked with Prof. Zhuowen Tu on exploring various capabilities of Vision-Language-Action models. I earned my Bachelor's degree at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (UIUC), where I had the opportunity to work with Prof. Saurabh Gupta and Aditya Prakash on 3D hand pose reconstruction.

Unified Human-to-Robot Teleoperation Platform
Human finger and arm motion mirrored across dexterous hands and robot arms.
A webcam and MediaPipe path maps 21 hand landmarks to six protected RealHand actuator channels, while a Vive path streams fresh 6D TCP targets to half-humanoid or single-arm robots. Driver-side IK and compliant control run at 1 kHz.
Real-Time Compliant Half-Humanoid Control
Real-time, compliant control for two arms and a shared waist.
Desired 6D hand poses are converted into continuous, safety-bounded joint targets through whole-body IK. A real-time coupled Cartesian impedance controller then coordinates both arms and the waist at 1 kHz, achieving <1.5 mm TCP error on each hand.
